Carlo’s Fish and Chips in Alnwick, Northumberland. Excellent fish and nchips and a warm welcome, with a sociological study upstairs! Highly recommended.

Single Speed Fun

I haven’t ridden an ungeared bike since ‘I was a lad’, but I’ve just replaced the worn out mechs and shifters of my mountain bike with a new chainring and a single sprocket at the back and it’s a barrel load of fun. No choosing gears, when you get to a climb you have to stand up and drive it up (or get off) and downhill you just pedal faster or freewheel.
Exhilarating freedom from a very simple bike.
