SciFi on Bamburgh Beach

We visited Northumberland this weekend and spent Saturday afternooon on Bamburgh Beach (http://www.northumberland-coast.co.uk/bamburgh.php). The afternoon was wonderful and the light was really bright and airy – filling every shadow. As I watched the people on the beach I was reminded of the old sixties Quatermass film (and others of the genre) which had people milling about in small groups shortly before their destruction.

I don’t know the Quatermass film, but I like this photo. The people seem so very far away. This is not the usual choice for including people in a photo but works here because of the low contrast landscape. Actually, U2’s No Line on the Horizon cover just popped to mind.

  2. Edward, thanks for your comment. Quatermass was a 50s or 60s sci fi series and movie (I like to think I saw the repeats…), but if it reminds you of the U2 cover then I am honoured indeed.
